Well, I decided enough was enough, and that I was going to take matters into my own hands: time for some DIY vanilla extract.
I did the research, and it turns out that it's a really simple process. You just have to be incredibly patient, so I'll be posting periodically on the progress of my little jar of sweetness every so often here. It'll take roughly a month before all of the flavors are strong and concentrated enough to use in your recipes, but I'd say it's worth the wait!
Also, word to the wise, check out all of the different places online you can purchase your vanilla beans. It's suggested that you use Mongolian Vanilla Beans, and I found a huge pack on Amazon, for about $14, and they were just as good of quality as they would be in any grocery store. And for that price for 16 beans, I'd say that's an insane steal. I'm thinking of growing my own plants once summer is in full swing..along with an entire garden...but I'm trying not to get too ahead of myself.
